Returning to Aralyn, Aimeric raised her chin so she would look into his eyes.

“The rules are: Do whatever I say whenever I say it. You will not talk back to me and you will not try and escape. If you do, you will punished just like that girl, maybe more painful, maybe less painful, it depends on my mood and how severe your crime is, but I promise: it will be painful. Are these rules clear to you?”

She nodded quickly, not wanting to anger him further.

“I can’t hear you,” he said in a dry tone.

“Yes.”

“Try again.”

“Yes, Aimeric.”

“Almost. Yes ‘what’ Aimeric?”

“Yes, Master Aimeric?”

He grinned. “Excellent.”

NEW SAMPLE CHAPTER

“Saigon!” Danteous hissed.

Samara looked up at him, confused, and before she could say anything, she heard something grunt. A big something. And it was sitting right in front of her. She gasped in fear, letting go of Danteous and stepping back a few feet.

“What is that?” she said.

The rocks started to move. A huge pair of yellow eyes opened and the cluster grew as it pulled itself up on four legs, all of which were as thick as old tree trunks.

“A dragon,” Danteous responded, taking her hand and pulling her back to him.

Samara was terrified. From what Cale had told her, the dragons followed Cyril. Dragons were evil beasts that hated humans. Her heart dropped at a new thought.

What if Danteous had made some sort of deal with the dragon? What if the dragon knew who she was and wanted to kill her because of it? What if Danteous led her here for that purpose?

She tried to slip from his fingers but he pulled her back, moving his arm around her waist and holding her back against his chest.

“He won’t hurt you,” he said against the side of her face.

Welcome to the horrors and fantasies of R. Vance's world. Here you will find stories unlike any other.

Do you like vampires, but are sick of the lovey, sappy (and sparkly) kind? You like evil vampires, don't you? Would you like to go back to a time when vampires were sexy, but feared and not treated like cuddly puppies? No need, for you will find them in the best selling horror novel, "Dead Seed."

How about dragons? If you're a fan of fantasy, you probably find them intriguing at least. How about a different take on them? R. Vance offers such a fantasy in her epic series "Dies Irae."

What's so different about this horror and fantasy writer? R. Vance is known for surprising her readers. "I didn't see that coming!" has become a regular comment from her readers. No unrealistic, lovey-dovey stories escape the hand of Vance.

"It isn't your classic rosie tale where all is good in the world; sacrifices must be made. Disney and Vance follow very different paths." (about "Dies Irae" by R. Arias)

Bio

R. Vance was born in Tucson Arizona in 1984 to an Air Force family. She spent most of her childhood in Arizona, Illinois, and Texas until her father retired and the family permanently moved to Oklahoma where she now lives with her fiancee and cat, Isabella.

Most of the time, R. Vance writes fantasy and horror.

Her first novel, "Dead Seed" is a vampire horror story that originally started as a just-for-fun short story on the website Quizilla. There, "Dead Seed" was known as the popular (and controversial) "Vampires Don't Exist." It dominated the Highest Rated list for about a month until the chapters came to an end. She received so much fan mail and demands to turn the story into a full-length book that she couldn't resist and gave in to the requests of her readers.

Her second published story is a fantasy series called "Dies Irae."
Unlike "Dead Seed," this story is appropriate for a younger audience and caters to the imaginations of ages 15 and up. Like a lot of other fantasy stories, "Dies Irae" has dragons. But unlike other fantasy stories, R. Vance's dragons live as humans who socially (and sometimes romantically) interact with them. Want a unique fantasy story that leaves you guessing until the end? Give "Dies Irae" a try; it's quickly becoming a favorite among its readers.

R. Vance's most recent publication is different from her former projects. It's a humorous guide called "Bad Customers: A Guide to Customer Etiquette." After working in retail at a dollar store for a combined total of almost 3 years where she encountered some very rude (and just plain weird) people, Ms. Vance decided to write a book about them. The book gives examples of rude customers and lets people know what they should and should not do in order to be a good customer. This book is not yet available on Amazon, but can be found at Lulu.com.

R. Vance's work can also be found in "Twisted Dreams" and "Worlds Within...Worlds Beyond" magazines (owned and edited by Andrea Dean Van Scoyoc), Alan Draven's "Sinister Landscapes," and the "2008 Ladies of Horror" (edited by Jennifer Miller)
